The two sides collaborate on technology and market advantages, build a digital Internet of Things ecosystem, jointly polish digital logistics scene solutions and service capabilities, and help global business enterprise customers achieve digital transformation and sustainable development. Recently, the strategic cooperation between the two sides has deepened and gradually landed in multiple industries such as footwear, e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing, successfully empowering global enterprise customers to achieve efficiency upgrade in manufacturing and warehousing logistics scenarios.
Footwear reverse logistics scenario cooperation
In the footwear industry, reverse logistics has always been a difficult point. Recently, Damon Technology and Siemens jointly deploy a set of reverse logistics system for DC project of a well-known domestic sporting goods brand, greatly improve the efficiency and accuracy of returns through intelligent transportation and sorting system, and achieve efficient recycling and green sustainable development of goods for customers. Footwear items are complicated, and the return processing process is particularly tedious, involving unpacking quality inspection, abnormity processing, changing carton to rack, put picking, review packaging, empty carton reflux and many other processes. Moreover, seasonal flow significantly increase every e-commerce promotions, which requires high stability, flexibility and efficiency of logistics system.
In view of the above difficulties in footwear industry’s reverse logistics scenario, Damon Technology, as the supplier of conveying and sorting system, and Siemens, as the supplier of automation control core devices, worked together to systematically sort out the material and information process, hardware design and software architecture. After multiple rounds of communication and demonstration, the final plan was to output the deep integration improvement plan. It not only expands the system capability for customers, improves the comprehensive operation and maintenance efficiency, but also realizes the digital remote monitoring and predictive maintenance for customers. At present, the project has been officially put into operation, through logistics system’s automation, digitalization and intelligence, it can effectively save labor costs for customers, guarantee the timeliness and accuracy of order fulfillment.
Damon Technology deploys a total length of 5KM i-G5 modular intelligent carton conveying line and high-speed loop cross-belt sorter system for reverse logistics system, and selects Siemens S7-1500 and S7-1200 series controllers and V series drivers as the core electronic control components of the conveyor sorting system, to achieve millisecon-level start-up and accurate positioning, sorting speed is up to 2.5m/s, the return distribution efficiency is up to 12,000 pieces/hour, sorting is efficient, accurate and stable. The system can not only deal with reverse logistics, but also can achieve time-sharing multiplexing in the forward logistics process. The system has been integrated and optimized by both Damon and Siemens as follows:
1)Stability Significantly improved: The two parties jointly deeply optimize the wireless leaky wave communication system architecture of the sorting system, which greatly improves the wireless communication stability between the system master and the sorting trolley;
2)Controllability enhanced: Both parties jointly conduct a systematic review and improvement of the electrical control program architecture for the conveying line, resulting in a 30% increase in the number of PLC controlled equipment; Support multiple advanced control algorithms such as PID control and fuzzy control, which can be customized and developed according to specific scene requirements to meet complex control requirements;
3)Digital interconnection and interoperability: Adopt a distributed I/O mode, the entire process of information transmission is coordinated and interacted with the upper system, and supports multiple communication protocols and related device interaction communication, achieve information management and digital visualization;
4)Easy and convenient maintenance: With the unique IP forwarding function of Siemens S7-1500 PLC, devices in different network segments can achieve technical parameter settings for the management control layer and hardware execution layer with only one upper computer without adding additional routing hardware. It also supports fault self diagnosis and remote repair, preventive maintenance, and system maintenance is simple and convenient.
